Earl Grey Sugar Cookies
At Ahmad Tea, baking with tea is one of our passions – we love experimenting by adding tea as an ingredient to a range of different recipes. Issy at @infusedwithtea shares our passion and gave us this simple recipe for Earl Grey Sugar Cookies. We spent a fun afternoon making them and enjoyed them with a lovely rich cup of Earl Grey (of course).

FEATURED TEA
Earl Grey
Our Earl Grey is a quintessentially English brew, perfect for those seeking an elegant, sophisticated cuppa. Soothing yet uplifting, it is one of our customers' highest-rated teas.
INGREDIENTS
225g butter (or vegan alternative)
½ cup/60g caster sugar
½ cup/60g icing sugar plus some extra for decoration
3 cups/360g plain flour
½ tsp baking powder
2 tbsp vanilla powder (or 1/2 vanilla bean)
8 tbsp almond milk
1 tbsp Ahmad Tea Earl Grey
Method
- Cream the butter and sugars using a mixer until pale and light.
- Add the milk and Earl Grey tea and continue to mix.
- In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder and vanilla powder.
- Add the dry ingredients to the dough, a little at the time. You can use your hands or a wooden spoon.
- When the dough is finished, cover it with plastic wrap and let it rest in the fridge for at least 1 hour.
- Once it is ready, roll the dough out between two sheets of baking paper and use any kind of cutter you like to shape cookies. Bake for 10-15 minutes at 170 degrees (depending on how thick you roll them out).
FOR THE ICING
Make the icing by combining a splash of almond milk with icing sugar and some 1 tsp Earl Grey tea. Use your judgement, but it’s easiest to work with an icing that’s quite thick so it doesn’t go everywhere. Decorate with some dried fruit/edible flowers/tea and enjoy.
